Janet Lee Mitchell

Janet Lee Mitchell (1936-2023) was born in West Virginia on April 3, 1936. She served in the U.S. Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1958 to 1961. Mitchell worked as a Research Assistant at the American Society for Psychical Research (ASPR) for six years and performed laboratory research regarding extrasensory perception (ESP). During her time working at ASPR she obtained a B.A. in Psychology from Hunter College in 1972. She received her Ph.D. from City University of New York in experimental cognition in 1981. In 1985 she moved to Arizona where she taught at Yavapai College. Her works include Out-of-Body Experiences: A Handbook (Jefferson, NC: McFarland, 1981) and Conscious Evolution (New York: Ballantine Books, 1990). Mitchell died July 20, 2023 in Arizona.
